Liberty Book of Home Sewing - Giveaway

Last weekend, I realised I'd been blogging a whole year.  Wowee.  I had no idea when I started whether I'd have anything to say.  Or if I'd even maintain my interest in learning how to do things I'd never done before.  But I have loved everything about the whole process.  I've loved learning how to do new things.  I've loved reading about you lovely people that I'd never otherwise come into contact with.  And most of all, I have loved knowing that you are out there cheering me on in my still small creative endeavours.

I know it's traditional on the anniversary of a blog to have a giveaway of a lovely thing made by the blogger.  But I thought you deserved a bit more than that (maybe next year).  So, it hit me that I could give away a book to celebrate.  (Any excuse for a legitimate break in the book diet.) It needed to be a special book.  And a crafty book.  One that would make you oooh and aaah, but that you might not splash out on yourself.  So, I thought this might be just the ticket.

I got a copy with a subscription to Mollie Makes.  And now I want everyone to have one.  This book is beautiful.

If you don't sew, I guarantee that it will make you want to.  If you do sew (and you don't already own the book), you will definitely want to make everything in it.  Immediately.  If you can sew a bit, it will make you want to have a go.  It has beautifully illustrated step-by-step instructions.

And a touch of quirkiness which appeals to me.

And it's clothbound, in hardback, and printed on good thick paper.

I do hope you like it.  If you'd like the chance to own the book, all you need to do is leave me a comment.  It would be nice if you could follow me but you don't have to.  If you'd like to blog about the giveaway, come back and let me know that you have and I'll add your name twice.  I'd love to know what you think works most about NKK and what you'd like to see more of.  If you remember to include that in your comments that would be fab but I won't exclude you if you don't.  In short, I'd love to hear from you.  Oh yes, and I'll choose a winner on  Saturday 11 February so you can leave a comment on this post any time up until then.

Thank you for all your support over the last year.  Not to put too fine a point on it, the last twelve months has been a challenge in ways that I don't write about here, but it had been delightful to have a place to escape to.  That you choose to read what I have to say and comment on my blog is truly amazing to me.

  1. I have that book already (and it's beautiful) :-) Just wanted to leave a comment to say how much I enjoy reading your blog and sharing in your crafty adventures x

  2. I really enjoy your blog just the way you are! Am really enjoying watching your lovely new home emerge from the ashes like a phoenix.I just checked - it is my first birthday on Saturday so I need to sort something out pronto.

  3. This looks such a great book - thank you for sharing!Congratulations on your first year and please continue just the way you are!!

  4. Looks like a great book - and quirky is wonderful! Congrats on your anniversary.

  5. I found your blog one day when I was googling deck chairs!! I love the name of your blog, a couple of years ago I knitted a bikini for a wearable arts competition and I can't imagine wearing knitted knickers!!!

  6. I would love to be included in your giveaway as I don't have this book and I do love a bit of Liberty! Liberty is quintessentially British. Well, I have a few blogs on my blog sidebar that make me go "oh goody" when I see there is a new post and yours is one of them. I say just keep doing what you are doing with your blog; I love all the "housey" posts and I enjoy seeing your house transformation into what will be a wonderful home. If you could perhaps pop back to New York at the start of each season and photograph the windows displays at Bergdorfs, Saks and Anthropologie that would be super!

Happy Bloggyversary and I look forward to following you over the next

  7. Happy one year blogaversary!!

I think you should just keep doing exactly what you're doing now :)

  8. Happy first birthday to you! Well done for the last year & here's to the next of many more...

  9. I really enjoy your blog, how could I not love it with Knitting in the title, i do love all the photography too :-) congratulations on your blogiversary!

  10. Hello! How lovely to find that while I wasn't looking you snuck back into Blogland :D

It feels a bit cheeky that my first comment is a please-enter-me-in-your-giveaway but I've only just found you again! I have followed and will add a link to the giveway in the knitsofacto sidebar, that way however often I post between now and February 9th it will stay where people can see it.

What would I like to see at NKK ... just more of the same as always please, it's going to be fun sharing your new adventures in your new home :D

  11. well done, keep it coming with more of the same, it's always good to see what crafty things you're up to, & what a lovely book to give-away - i was tempted to un-subscribe, then re-subscribe to mollie makes just to get my hands on a copy - but now i can try to win one! thank you,

  12. Happy anniversary. I love what I have seen of your blog. Most especially I love the inspiring photos and your impeccable taste (because it is so similar to mine...? lol).

  13. Oh wow! Lovely blog and lovely book - I have it from the library at present, and a copy of mine own would be amazing. I think if I've interpreted your book diet correctly I'm on a similar regime toy ou, but a given book can't be seen as breaking the diet surely?

  14. I love your blog! Also I don't have that book. I liked your stories of NY and your new start and home but that is because I am nosey more of everything please - annie

  15. Hello! I have just found your lovely blog whilst reading Gillyflower's last post and found your little link at the bottom.
Firstly, fab name! My late Grandmother had a thing about knitting knickers for all my Barbie dolls - I think she regarded them as indecent, so this has brought back many memories of blue scratchy acrylic pants beneath gorgeous dresses and skin tight jeans (the dolls, not me)!
Secondly, I love the way you phrase things, it makes me smile, like chatting with a friend in the back garden!
Finally, I always love a good photo - liberal sprinklings make a good blog post for me (I have a very short attention span and get bored easily - again I can hear my Grandmother "Patience is a virtue"), so you have just the perfect balance for me.
I would love to be entered into your giveaway as your newest follower and will enjoy tracking back to your previous posts and eagerly await future musings!
Did I say congrats on your bloggiversary? Well, congrats to you!
    All the best,
    Becky x

  16. I would definitely love to have that book - what a lovely one to give away! I have enjoyed reading your blog over the past year - it's difficult to say what I like best - I think variety is the spice of life, and that's what makes it interesting.

    Pomona x
